| JELD-WEN, Inc became a Corporate Sponsor
for Relay for Life in 2001 and a National Corporate Team Partner in
2005. In 2007, JELD-WEN Window Division/Grinnell, under the direction
of HR Manager, Nicolle Smith, developed an informal committee to raise
funds for Relay for Life. Customer Care – Central Division,
also located in Grinnell, became an important part of the effort from
the beginning. In our first year, $4000 was donated at the Poweshiek
County (Iowa) Relay for Life event. Contributions from employees,
vendors and the local community funded a dozen events, including raffles,
silent auctions, and the first annual JELD-WEN Relay for Life Golf
Outing.
Our donation at the 2008 Poweshiek County Relay for Life event
was $12064. The teamwork, and just plain enjoyment, was evident.
The second annual JELD-WEN Relay for Life Golf Outing, organized
by Karen Crady, raised over $4000 and surpassed our entire 2007
donation. In January of 2008, Office Manager, Megan Reschly (an
avid scrap-booker), decided to donate handmade greeting cards and
sell them to raise money. She hoped to sell 500 cards that year.
By the end of the year, over 1500 cards had been sold. Several employees
have become enthusiastic card makers as well.
